Timber Home Beach Cottage

Location: Bettys Bay
Program: Residential
Area: 109sqm

Date: July 2024

Progress: Construction

The timber-framed house in Bettys Bay marks the initial phase of a beach cottage project. On the street side, a double garage will create a division between the street and the cottage. This section will be separated from the main cottage by a clear sheeted courtyard, which will also feature an outdoor shower for rinsing off sand after a day at the beach.

The cottage will be located towards the back of the site to ensure it receives ample North and East light, creating a private outdoor area. The entrance to the cottage features a timber deck with a gable roof pergola. Large sliding doors lead into the main living area, which includes an open-plan kitchen and lounge space.

To the back of the cottage is the bedroom area, complete with a walk-in robe and an en-suite bathroom. The cottage is designed with multiple outdoor spaces to enjoy the views and different times of the day.

Sustainability is a key feature of this cottage. It will have a solar geyser and will be powered by solar energy. The roof structures are designed to collect rainwater for irrigation and reuse where possible. Double glazed windows and doors combined with optimal orientation will ensure that the spaces are heated and cooled correctly for comfortable temperatures.
