The courtyard house offers several advantages, including enhanced connection to the outdoors from within and significantly improved comfort through increased natural lighting and ventilation. This particular property is ideally oriented with north-facing views and features a prepared, level platform at the top of the site, making it especially desirable.

The design began with a driveway platform and a double garage positioned at the back of the site, where rainwater tanks could be discreetly hidden from view. The rear of the site will be supported by gabion walls constructed with rocks sourced from the site itself. From this area, a central entrance and foyer transition was created, slightly recessed between the two separate wings of the house.

As you enter the house, a private TV lounge opens onto the pool area. Behind the TV lounge, the study area features a door leading to a shared bedroom courtyard with stunning mountain views. From the TV lounge, you can access the bedroom wings, including the spacious main suite, which boasts an indoor/outdoor bathroom and opens onto a semi-private deck and garden platform. The guest suite includes a private en-suite bathroom and access to the shared courtyard space. Both bedrooms feature clerestorey windows which allow you to enjoy the mountain views from every space.
Back in the foyer area, the main living wing features a north-facing orientation, with doors and windows that seamlessly blend the indoors with the outdoors. A double-sided fireplace elegantly separates the lounge from the dining space.
This home boasts a spacious kitchen, destined to be the heart of the house, complete with a private scullery and laundry area. Adjacent to the kitchen is a wine room, conveniently located near the dining area. The kitchen also includes a bar/coffee area with a sliding window that opens to a small deck, allowing for easy entertaining and connection to the outdoor spaces. The kitchen leads to a covered braai deck with a large built-in braai, perfect for entertaining. This deck area connects to the pool platform, enabling a seamless transition between spaces and uniting the exterior areas with the interior. This design perfectly embodies the essence of the Capri Courtyard House.

This space also has stunning clerestorey windows which will bring in additional North light to create an open feel while maintaining some privacy to the street. The house will have solar installed, plenty of rainwater tanks and other sustainable methods to keep the house running in an eco-way.
